"greenerypantone"Pantone, the design industry’s color authority, recently proclaimed Greenery its 2017 Color of the Year. Almost immediately the design world weighed in, many in favor of the light, bright, tart shade; others letting out a deep sigh, when contemplating how the bold, citrusy hue would adorn walls and windows and how it could fall in-step with the design scheme for the rest of the house.

Anointing a Pantone Color of the Year requires months of research and investigation, mining the zeitgeist and getting a read on the creative culture at large. “While Serenity and Rose Quartz, the PANTONE Color of the Year 2016, expressed the need for harmony in a chaotic world,” said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute. “Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the hope we collectively yearn for amid a complex social and political landscape. Satisfying our growing desire to rejuvenate, revitalize and unite, Greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose.”

Green holds special meaning in Asian culture. It summons freshness and new life, fertility, growth, health, healing and harmony. The PAGODA RED COLLECTION showcases the full spectrum of green, indoors and out: delicate celadon and jade beautifully rendered in our ceramic headrests, the light wash of our glazed Chinese apothecary jars, an elegant emerald smoking pipe from the Qing Dynasty or the vivid green featured on our lush jade objects.

If you’re making a fresh start, here are a few ways to use our favorite green pieces in the gallery, plus further proof that history is the best color expert.
