Taikkun Li paints traditional motifs and landscapes onto porcelain cola bottles, bridging east and west in one extraordinary object. An interdisciplinary artist, Li works in industrial design, fine arts, ceramics, film and video.<\/p>\n

Li\u2019s bottles are painted with a scene reminiscent of the Ming Dynasty\u2019s famous blue and white ceramics \u2014\u00a0deftly combining old and new, East and West.\u00a0His\u00a0work blurs the boundaries of design, sculpture, ceramics, film, and photography, with an emphasis on combining modern global branding and traditional Chinese design.<\/p>\n

His\u00a0work recently joined that of Ai Weiwei, Liu Wei and other contemporary Chinese artists in a 2016 exhibition at the Maxwell Museum of Anthropology, while other exhibitions include Milan Design Week, a video installation at UNESCO (Beijing) and international screenings of his documentary film, Lost Dream of Beijing.\u00a0<\/em>Li\u2019s art has been covered\u00a0by GEO<\/em>, Fast Company<\/em>, Core77<\/em> and Inhabitat<\/em>. A 2009 graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Li holds\u00a0a BFA in ceramics.<\/p>\n
