Their tail hairs form the bristles of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pagodared.com\/items?s%5Bq%5D=calligraphy+brush\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">calligraphy ink brushes<\/a> and their hoof feet are carved into the legs of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pagodared.com\/items?s%5Bq%5D=hoof+feet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wooden tables &amp; Flattened to an oval, these spirals recall the almond shape of a horse\u2019s eye, however other interpretations compare them to thunderclouds or clam shells. On some vessels in our collection, the addition of a few well-placed brushstrokes transform the spirals into budding flowers, while others fill the sides like ripples in a motif is most prominently associated with kitchenware of Japan\u2019s Seto region, particularly the serving dishes known as Seto ishizara (stone plates). While today these vessels are incredible works of art, they were originally humble objects for everyday use, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pagodared.com\/items?direction=desc&amp;s%5Bq%5D=wine+jar&amp;s%5Btaxon_ids%5D%5B%5D=383&amp;sort=available_on\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wine jars<\/a>, rice <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pagodared.com\/t\/accessories-tabletop-bowls-plates\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bowls<\/a>, condiment <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pagodared.com\/items?s%5Bq%5D=oil+bottle\">bottles<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pagodared.com\/items?s%5Bq%5D=yun0360\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pantry
