This 19th century hand-crafted brass hand warmer would have been owned by a woman of means and filled with coals so she could warm her hands on cold winter nights. The top is beautifully pierced with a lotus bud design. These buds are the middle stage of the lotus' development. Surrounding the lotus is an intricate series of honeycombed incisions, framed with unmarked circular bands. The focus created by these patterns draws the eye to the central lotus motif. That focus brings to mind the louts' symbolic meaning: one of rising from concealed obscurity to perfect beauty.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
