Dancing in the light of glowing coals, the intricately rendered figure and fanciful fish that adorn this 19th-century brazier must have delighted those warming their hands over the heat. The Chinese character for fish is pronounced the same as the Chinese character for surplus so fish are considered symbols that bring a sense of good luck. Skillfully crafted out of brass, the brazier was used during cold weather in China’s northern provinces.

“I am particularly fond of PAGODA RED as we have known the family for so long. Betsy is a professional in every way and her intelligent taste comes from a long line of family knowledge in the arts. She and her team are the very best to work with and we find treasures with every visit!”
