Unlike ceramics decorated with underglazing, this vase was painted after it was fired. This technique enabled the artist to build up areas and experiment with texture, visible in the stamped pattern along the painted bands and in the embossing of the flowers along the neck. The vase is decorated with a pheasant, a regal phoenix, and two chattering magpies. Originally used to pickle eggs, this container works well today planted with green foliage indoors or out.

“I am particularly fond of PAGODA RED as we have known the family for so long. Betsy is a professional in every way and her intelligent taste comes from a long line of family knowledge in the arts. She and her team are the very best to work with and we find treasures with every visit!”
