This contemporary lidded baluster jar continues the centuries-old tradition of Chinese blue-and-white porcelain ware. Painted with cobalt pigments for a brilliant blue finish, the jar is decorated with a scene of young boys playing and flying kites in a garden. One of the boys carries a large peach, a common symbol of immortality and springtime. The scene is bordered by a ring of auspicious ruyi, symbols of longevity and good fortune, and strap handles shaped as fu dogs top the jar's high shoulders. Beautifully contrasted by a bright white background, this blue and white jar has a timeless design that enlivens any space.
