A dark brown glaze clings to the textured surface of this wine jar, lingering on subtle ridges ringing the body to create a pattern of light and dark. As evidenced by the interior glaze, the jar was once used to store wet foods in a Qing-dynasty kitchen, such as soy sauce, rice wine, or pickled vegetables. Crafted in the early 20th century, the jar has a timeless simplicity and fantastic rustic character.
