Crafted in the late 19th century, this striking red lacquer cabinet was likely part of a traditional wedding dowry, bestowed upon the groom by the bride's family filled with fine silks, linens, and other gifts. The tall cabinet has a clean-lined form, designed with straight legs, square corners and minimal embellishments.

The cabinet front is cloaked in a bright, cinnabar-red lacquer finish, contrasted by black lacquer sides and a huge, full-moon brass lock plate. The double doors open by two peach-shaped drop pulls, each secured to brass plates etched with abstract dragons and interlocking coins. A storied addition to the modern home, the cabinet offers ample storage with two interior shelves, two drawers, and a hidden lower compartment.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
