Red Lacquer Ginger Jar

This petite wooden ginger jar charms with squat proportions and a red lacquer finish with fantastic, timeworn texture. Composed of turned wood, the small jar has rounded sides with a constrained neck, short footed base and a slightly domed lid topped by an oval knob. At some point in the jar's life, the exterior was retouched with red paint, enlivening the surface with bright color and enhancing its mottled texture.
