Perfectly proportioned and delightfully ornate, this wooden bird cage was once home to the pet of a Qing-dynasty aristocrat. Dated to the mid-19th century, the square bird cage is carefully assembled of thin rods of dark hardwood and trimmed with fine burlwood inlay in a meander pattern. Three straight perches run the length of the cage at varying heights and the floor is removable for cleaning. The cage is complete with the original owner's accessories, including decorative charms, porcelain cups for water and birdseed, and a shallow double-gourd dish carved from bone. A work of exquisite craftsmanship, this fine bird cage is a wonderful collector's item and a storied sculptural object.

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
