Deceptively simple, this early 20th century stool from Hebei province shows off the ingenious joinery methods traditionally used by Chinese carpenters. The stool's three splayed legs are supported by stretcher bars that interlock at the center to form a triangle. Not only does this provide stability, it adds a sense of balance and design intrigue to the otherwise simple form. The original dark exterior has faded with time for a beautifully softened finish that calls to be touched.

“I am particularly fond of PAGODA RED as we have known the family for so long. Betsy is a professional in every way and her intelligent taste comes from a long line of family knowledge in the arts. She and her team are the very best to work with and we find treasures with every visit!”
