Petite Bai Ginger Jar

This petite porcelain jar has a squat, rounded form with high shoulders and gently tapered sides. The jar is cloaked inside and out with a cool white glaze and decorated with a quiet scene of a woman reading in the garden, surrounded by rocks, foliage and butterflies. The scene is rendered with thin, carefree linework for a hand-drawn, sketched effect. The flat lid is painted with a ripe peach, the knob shaped to resemble a curled plant stem.
