A work of art in itself, this finely woven Qing-dynasty trunk likely once stored prized painted scrolls. Framed in elmwood, the trunk’s panels are lined with thin reeds that were painstakingly woven by a skilled artisan. The trunk’s top opens to reveal a rich red lacquer interior that contrasts beautifully with the rich, black-lacquered exterior. Iron hardware and a gem- and gold-accented carved base panel add eye-catching detail.

Suzanne Lovell | Suzanne Lovell, Inc.

“I am particularly fond of PAGODA RED as we have known the family for so long. Betsy is a professional in every way and her intelligent taste comes from a long line of family knowledge in the arts. She and her team are the very best to work with and we find treasures with every visit!”
