With exquisite joinery and balanced proportions, this woven-top summer daybed from Zhejiang province is a fine example of Qing-dynasty furniture. Dated to the mid-19th century, the low-lying daybed is a form of casual seating known as "ta," used throughout the courtyard home as a portable surface for reclining, playing games, and gathering for food and drink. The daybed features a beautiful waisted frame of cypress wood, crafted with smooth contours, a subtle beaded trim and softly rounded edges that flow into round corner legs. Ideal today as a chaise or coffee table, the daybed is finished with a tightly-woven top for added comfort, hand-woven of thin reeds in a basic twill pattern.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
