A modern artisan from China’s Jiangxi Province made this ceramic vase by hand, but wucai ware became popular centuries ago. Wucai means "five colors", referring to the red, green, and yellow designs on white outlined in cobalt. The whimsical fish, swimming among plants and flowers, hold deeper meaning in Chinese art: may you be as harmonious as fish swimming in water.
