Crazed Celadon Ginger Jar

This round lidded vessel has a simple baluster jar form and a subdued celadon glaze finished with a richly crazed texture. Master ceramic artists in Zhejiang beautifully recreate the distinctive crackle glaze of traditional Guan and Ge ware, allowing a network of lines to flow over the vase’s high shoulders and round body. Marked by imperfections, the jar has a unique texture and sculptural presence that recalls finely worked stone.
