This colorful painting by Chicago-based artist Patrick Fitzgerald belongs to a body of work he calls his “Neighborhood of Infinity.” Fitzgerald uses this borrowed term literally to refer to the bounty of materials and creative inspiration he found in the industrial landscapes of his childhood in Grand Rapids, MI.

Entitled "Denizen No. 13," the painting is a companion piece to his series of soap box cars and the branded attire of their drivers. The small painting depicts a face peering out from behind one of his sculptural helmet & jacket sets, not only as a driver but as the inhabitant of his whimsical, imaginary realm. Like all of Fitzgerald's works, the painting achieves a certain timelessness, conveying graphic shapes and bold colors with weathered textures and traceable brushwork.

Visible Painting: 4"W x 6"H
