This rustic container was made over a hundred years ago to measure and hold a dou of rice, a traditional Chinese unit of volume. The rice measure has a square form with tapered sides, handcrafted of elm with thin finger joinery along each corner and a gently arched handle, burnished smooth by the touch of many hands. The wooden vessel is beautifully weathered from years of use, softly faded to a light brown and marked by faint traces of the original painted decoration.

Replacement wood panel to upper portion of one side.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
