Set alongside the four treasures of the study - the calligraphy brush, ink, paper, and inkstone - the scroll pot was a fixture of every traditional scholar’s studio. Used to hold calligraphy scrolls, this lacquered container is beautifully decorated on all eight sides with idyllic scenes of village life in a mountainous landscape. Painted with expressive brushwork in white and gold pigments, the scenes are enclosed by thin cartouche frames and surrounded by a pattern of dots and trailing vines.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
