This late 19th-early 20th century inkstone from China’s Shanxi region was finely carved by hand from a single piece of stone with two reclining fu dogs serenely facing one another and a decorative well for water. The stone has a smoother texture in areas that were frequently touched. The Fu Dog symbol most likely had special meaning to the scholar who used it—inkstones often had decorations that represented something personal to their owners.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
