This rustic glazed vessel dates to the early 20th-century and was used for storing food and condiments in a provincial Qing-dynasty kitchen, as evidenced by its interior glaze. The wide-mouth jar has a cylindrical form with a constrained neck flanked by two small strap handles. Contrasted by an unfinished base, the blue-black glaze exhibits a rich range of dark colors, textured with firing imperfections and the subtle contours of its coil construction.

“I am particularly fond of PAGODA RED as we have known the family for so long. Betsy is a professional in every way and her intelligent taste comes from a long line of family knowledge in the arts. She and her team are the very best to work with and we find treasures with every visit!”
