This elegant French armoire dates to the mid- to late-18th century and is a timeless example of French Provincial and Louis XV styles. The large wardrobe has a classic form, with short cabriole legs, straight sides decorated with inset panels, and an arched top surmounted by a tiered cornice. The two-door front is decorated with sloping cartouche panels framed with beaded edging and accented by elegant brass hinges and scrolled keyhole escutcheons. The sinuous apron draws a continuous line between the two front legs and is carved with simple scrollwork and a central scallop shell. The cabinet interior is fitted with three shelves and retains traces of the previous floral paper lining.

From the collection of Frances and Gary Comer.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
