African pottery is revered for combining a simplicity of form with astonishing beauty and sophistication. Even an everyday object, like this water vessel, is richly balanced and deep in character. The vessel's varied textures come from its utilitarian design. The dimples, geometric markings and bands were incised by the potter to give its holder a better grip, creating complex patterns that achieved further character with the touch of time and use. Many Igala pots are recognized by their proud bulbous form and slight upturned, sculptural lip.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
