This 19th-century "feng deng" stool was originally commissioned in highly respected ironwood—a hardwood so-called because of its heft and naturally dark color. "Feng" means square and "deng" means stool. The rounded corners of the tops highlight the master mortise and tenon carpentry employed to create these very pure and simple forms in the most elegant Ming fashion.

“I am particularly fond of PAGODA RED as we have known the family for so long. Betsy is a professional in every way and her intelligent taste comes from a long line of family knowledge in the arts. She and her team are the very best to work with and we find treasures with every visit!”
