Japanese Silver Cherry Blossom Compact

This lovely Japanese silver compact or pill box exemplifies Japanese refinement in all crafts. The circular case is decorated in shallow relief with a chased design of five-petal cherry blossoms. An iconic symbol of spring time, cherry blossoms are also reminders to appreciate the ephemeral moments in life. The compact lid is decorated with a central gold-plated blossom and a circular band of smaller blossoms and leafy foliage. The underside of the petite box is stamped with a makers mark for Kobayashi and a mark indicating "Pure Silver."
