One of the most remote locations in Asia, the area now known as East Turkestan was a pivotal stop along the Silk Road, uniting the cultures of India, Persia, and China. This rich multicultural mix is reflected in the exquisite carpets created in the oasis towns of the Khotan region. This fantastic antique khotan carpet depicts a spread of fine offerings, framed by nested borders of trailing peonies and shou longevity symbols. Beside vases bearing floral arrangements, you can spot a buddha's hand citron, a symbol of prosperity, and a plump persimmon, an emblem of joy. Hand-woven of silk and vegetable-dyed wool, the carpet exhibits a cool palette of blues and whites, a nod to blue-and-white export porcelain.

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
