This large metal tray dates to the early 20th century and is decorated with gilt paintings atop an underlayer of red and black lacquer. The raised sides are painted with floral scrollwork and gilt cartouches with silhouetted dancers, depicted like live performers on a theater stage. With time, the tray has developed a crackled texture and a beautiful aged patina.

From the collection of Frances and Gary Comer.

“I am particularly fond of PAGODA RED as we have known the family for so long. Betsy is a professional in every way and her intelligent taste comes from a long line of family knowledge in the arts. She and her team are the very best to work with and we find treasures with every visit!”
