A low daybed step from the mid-19th century, featuring an elongated plank top with rounded ends and short splayed legs linked with straight stretchers. Crafted with mortise-and-tenon joinery, without the use of nails or screws, the legs connect to the seat with half-moon double joints for a subtle decorative detail. A finish of black lacquer darkens all sides, now faded at the legs and speckled with wear. Originally used to easily step in and out of a raised daybed, the low bench is ideal today as a footrest, low coffee table or as an elevated surface for table settings.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
