This petite silver plaque is a charming example of Tibetan metalwork. The thin, square charm is decorated in repoussé with a wild horse galloping in the moonlight, surrounded by fluffy clouds. The horse can likely be interpreted as a Tibetan wind horse, an auspicious creature symbolizing the human soul and often shown beside the four animals representing the cardinal directions. Riderless and free, the wind horse is thought to move through the heavens with all the speed and strength of the four winds.

Old glue residue on the back.
