This 19th-century South Korean stone mortar was originally used in a traditional apothecary. Its open bowl allowed free movement of a pestle to effectively grind, mash, and macerate herbs and seeds to prepare healing medicines. Used as a decorative vessel or tabletop planter, the mortar's rustic form and hand-carved texture makes for the perfect home accent.
