Created in the 1970s just as China was beginning its ascent as a global economic force, this painted panel based on a mythological tale seems to foretell the nation’s strength and power. Pictured in what is described as a “yellow mountain atmosphere," a pair of ferocious leopards pursues a buck in a vividly animated scene. The cycle of life plays out with respective symbols, the deer symbolizing peace and longevity and the leopards ferocity and supreme power. We love the way the high-keyed colors and bright red frame invests these beasts with magnificent vitality.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
