Likely to have been the centerpiece of a wealthy gentleman’s home, this pair of Qing-dynasty compound cabinets are actually comprised of two stacked storage compartments. The upper compartment was traditionally used for hats or out of-season clothes while the lower compartment stored everyday garments. At the base of the lower cabinet is a concealed opening that would have held blankets and other bedding. The center rail was designed to be removable for easier access. Constructed over a century ago, the cabinets are wonderfully preserved, exhibiting rich, lustrous wood and handcrafted brass hardware. The cabinet aprons are carved with fu characters flanked by a pair of dragons' heads, denoting power and prosperity.

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
