This low, rectangular table would have once flanked a platform bed in the intimate living space of a traditional Qing-dynasty home. Perfectly proportioned, the table is a quintessential example of Chinese furniture design. The inset, rounded legs, straight stretchers, and simple, curved spandrels are all fundamentals of Ming-inspired furniture. The expansive tabletop showcases the beautiful grain patterns of northern elm (yumu), darkened by traces of the original lacquer and soft to the touch. Dated to the mid-19th century, the low table is ideal today as a coffee table or nightstand.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
