This fantastic mid-19th century cabinet hits all the right notes. Bringing the austere, minimalist attitude of Ming dynasty design into the Qing dynasty, the artisan woodworkers who created the tall cabinet judiciously introduced intricate embellishments. Doors that slot directly into the frame give the exterior a clean, seamless appearance. In subtle contrast, exquisitely carved garlands centered with bats, symbols of prosperity, skirt the bottom apron, adding a sense of lightness and delight. We love the mix of solid wood and organic tracery, so beautifully balanced in this dark, statement cabinet.
