Dated to the early 20th century, this petite oval ginger jar is a colorful example of Chinese famille rose porcelain. Contrasted by a matte, persimmon-orange glaze, the jar is decorated in pastel enamels with a design of fine vases and censers set upon plant stands and filled with floral arrangements. A common motif on Chinese ceramics and textiles, this vignette of precious objects is known as "Hundred Treasures" or "Hundred Antiques," and celebrates beauty and craftsmanship in the fine arts. Stamped with the reign mark of the Shunzhi emperor (1644-61).
