This petite vessel by the Songye people of the DRC is formed in the style of traditional storage containers, known as mulondo. Characteristic to these storage vessels are the deep incised lines around encircling the elongated neck and rounded shoulders. Applied while the clay is still wet, the bold designs have graphic impact and provide a textured surface for gripping the piece. Beautifully worn from a century of use, the vessel has rich character and timeless form.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
