Exhibiting a rich patina, this petite blackware vessel shows many telltale signs of Pre-Columbian pottery. The darkened surface was achieved by applying a mineral-rich slip for a monochrome finish that designates the vessel as an everyday object. Hand-formed using a coil method, the vessel nonetheless has a balanced, elegant form, with thin walls marked by vertical fluting. Although the precise date of the piece is unknown, this petite vessel remains an exquisite example of Pre-Columbian artistry.
