Provincial Red Lacquer Tray

Simple lines, a modest form, and a layer of hand-brushed lacquer give this footed tray a provincial charm that recalls the warmth of the home. Assembled with dovetail joinery, the corners of the tray are reinforced with iron fittings. A tray like this would have been used to serve tea to friends and family gathered on traditional kang daybeds.
