Described in ancient Chinese texts as the “moon dyed with spring water,” celadon ceramics are prized for their well-proportioned forms and luminous blue-green glazes. This vintage celadon vase was sculpted by artisans of the Mengrai Kilns in Chiangmai, Thailand, a small-scale workshop renowned for their celadon vessels and glazed stonewares, each crafted by hand using traditional methods.

The small vase has an elegant form known as a shiliuzun, or pomegranate vase, with a rounded silhouette that flows uninterrupted to a short bottle neck and flared lip. An etched design of flower blossoms and abstract patterns enlivens the sides, cloaked in a pale celadon glaze with sheer translucency and a distinctive, crackled finish. Stamped with maker's marks of the Mengrai Kilns.
