This hand-crafted wood container dates to the early 20th century and was used to store rice and other grains. The lidded container has a rounded body with a short footed base, constructed of elmwood staves bound with iron rings. Darkened to a red-brown finish, the bucket is decorated with painted Chinese characters and wooden handle mounts carved in the form of offering fruits. Authentically rustic, the wooden vessel adds warmth and well-worn texture to modern interiors.
