The simple design of this porch stool from China's Shanxi province celebrates the beauty of clean lines. Constructed in the northern style with mortise-and-tenon joinery, the lightweight stool would have been used in front of the home for seating on hot summer days. Straight stretchers link its splayed legs, topped by a simply formed spandrel. Cloaked in a richly worn lacquer finish, this stool is the perfect way to bring a touch of history into the modern home.
