This lidded metal vessel was originally used to store tung oil in a provincial home in China's Shanxi province. The container would have been kept close at hand to replenish oil lamps throughout the home. The jar's tall, slender form and gracefully arched handle give it a unique sculptural presence, and an aged patina adds rustic texture to modern interiors.
