Exquisite in its apparent simplicity, this Qing Dynasty table made in Hebei Province is the design of a master Chinese Craftsman. The simple stretchers completely encircle the base and the slightly hoofed feet turn inwards to give the form a natural, contained flow. Side tables are sometimes called “half tables” because they are half the size of the classic Eight Immortals (square) tables, which could seat two on each side and so had enough room for each of the eight Daoist immortals.
