Popularized during the Ming dynasty (1368-1644), tall display tables such as this were used to display precious objects, serve tea, or elevate burning incense. This square example dates to the mid-19th century and features a lower shelf and three drawers likely used for storing incense. A beaded edge traces the table's paneled sides and continues down the four straight legs ending in hoof feet. Finished with a coating of dark brown lacquer, this square display table is ideal as a small side table or a pedestal for your favorite work of art.
