Taihu stones are naturally occurring limestone rocks native to Lake Tai in Jiangsu Province, China. They are revered as scholars' rocks and meditation stones and are frequently used in Asian gardens to represent the mountains in a balanced landscape along with architecture, water, plants, trees and flowers. Most Taihu stones are formed underwater, resulting in their intriguing texture. Coloration varies from rust to green to purple to grey. We enjoy them vertically and horizontally planted in greens, clearings, forests and pots, adding structure and interest every season. Indoors they are strong sculptural objects. With succulents, they are divine.

Sculpturally, each each Taihu stone is different. Length varies between 20" and 29"; diameter varies between 6" and 10".
