This rustic wooden container dates to the early 20th century and was once used to store dry goods or household items in a provincial home in Yunnan province. Hollowed from a single tree trunk, the wide container has an organic, asymmetrical form and a faceted exterior textured by blade marks, chisel notches and the irregular wear of antique wood. With the pale color of raw wood, the primitive vessel brings fantastic texture to modern interiors as a planter, basket or decorative accent.

Minor restoration to losses to one side.
