Over a century ago, a gifted potter in northern China crafted this organic clay jar from the rich dark clay of a local river basin. The surface is stamped with auspicious symbols: The Tibetan Buddhist endless knot and the peony, representing Spring and feminine beauty. Left entirely unglazed, the clay's natural pigmentation became further pronounced after firing, resulting in wonderfully cloud-like formations on the pot's surface.
