Basket making is an ancient and humble craft, but in the hands of a skilled weaver a simple willow basket can become a truly beautiful work of art. This lidded tabletop basket was made in China long ago, and the artisan’s mastery is evident: the strong, flexible willow strips are skillfully intertwined into a rhythmic pattern. Any remaining gaps were then filled with lacquer to create a watertight seal and accentuate the woven pattern. The basket has worn beautifully with time, but remains in remarkable condition - a testament to its craftsmanship.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
