We are all cut from different cloths. We wear our lives like garments.

— Cleveland Dean

Cloth° is a limited series of sculpture paintings by Chicago artist Cleveland Dean. Taking cues from the technique of wet drapery, each work of shaped canvas addresses personal and societal quandaries within unexpected conceptual forms.

The work of visual artist Cleveland Dean is truthful. It speaks to that which is the now and explores the ways we relate to ourselves and to others in an increasingly inclusive yet isolating global environment. Created during an extended social quarantine, the Cloth° series is Dean’s first foray into color and depicts the ideal that we as individuals are all cut from different cloths. Defined by our personal thoughts, notions, and behaviors, we wear our identities like garments. Inspired by lust and fueled by personal progression—this is Cloth°.
